Why do we shear?
The health and welfare of our animals is very important to us, that is why we shear our sheep in spring so they don't become overheated in summer. A long fleece (wool) is likely to get daggy and soiled making the sheep very susceptable to flystrike and heat stress, a bulky fleece reduces the mobility of sheep. Shearing keeps stained wool and contaminated wool separate from new fleece growth.
