The trustees and management consulted widely with industry partners and experts to find solutions and develop strategies that will enhance our ability to achieve the goals and aspirations of the farm and deliver a productive, profitable and sustainable sheep and beef operation.
The trustees and management have considered new innovations and technologies to keep us competitive and sustainable. To that end, the trustees have put in place a programme to upgrade much needed agricultural machinery and equipment. The problem we have had over the many years is that we have focused largely on what we want from the farm but not necessarily on the tools to help achieve that.
The past two years has seen the farm retire and replace plant and equipment that was aged, expensive to maintain, and so on. Making do with what we have and getting the most out of what we have invested in did not necessarily translate into cost savings and benefits to the farm.
